PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
MRS. N. HARUDEEN
Ayesha Muslim Ladies College, founded in 1941, stands as a beacon of educational excellence in the heart of Akkaraipattu, Ampara District, Eastern Province. Over the course of 83 years, our institution has grown significantly and achieved numerous milestones, firmly establishing itself as a leading educational establishment for female students.
Currently, our college caters to 1,800 students with the support of 75 dedicated teachers. We offer a comprehensive curriculum spanning Grades 1 to 13, with Advanced Level classes available in Arts, Commerce, Physical Science, and Bio-Science streams. Additionally, we provide bilingual learning opportunities from Grade 6 to Grade 10.
Our college has proudly produced many successful alumni who have made significant contributions in various fields such as education, law, medicine, and engineering. Notable achievements include a student receiving a scholarship for higher education at the National University in Australia in 1991 and another student securing an educational tour to Japan in 1997.
In 2006, our college achieved first place in the GCE (O/L) exams in the Eastern Province, a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. Each year, a significant number of our students gain admission to prestigious universities and pursue successful careers. For instance, in 2020, 28 students gained university admission, including two into the medical faculty. In 2021, 36 students were admitted to universities, with five entering the medical faculty. According to the results for 2022, we anticipated that six students would join the medical faculty, one the engineering faculty, and a total of 40 students would enter universities.
Furthermore, our college achieved first place in the Akkaraipattu Education Zone, reflecting our ongoing commitment to academic excellence. Our students also excel in co-curricular activities, participating in events such as English Day, Tamil Day, Sinhala Day, and national debate competitions.
In line with modern educational needs, we have established TAB and IOT units to develop 21st-century skills. Our college also features a well-structured Guidance/Counselling unit and a Dental unit. Plans are underway to establish a SBPTD unit to further enhance teaching and learning skills through targeted training for our educators.
The progress and success of Ayesha Muslim Ladies College are deeply rooted in the dedication of our past and present principals. I joined the college as a Vice Principal in 2009 and have served as Deputy Principal from 2012 to 2016. Since December 25, 2016, I have had the honor of serving as the Principal.
Together with our dedicated staff, we remain committed to fostering an environment that nurtures academic achievement and personal growth for all our students.
